hi, this will be a brief of my youth retreat, cause a detail one will take forever to type. hahaha.
Day 1 (monday). Constance stayed over at my house the night before, so the 3 of us woke up at 7 am to do our quiet time and set off to potong pasir. It was raining, so Innzheng took a ride from my dad. We reached there on time, and waited awhile for the rest to arrive. We went to the bread shop to buy breakfast, den went on to our venue.
St. Andrew's village was at St. Andrew Jr and Sec. We had to climb a "hill" to reach the place. The first thing we did was to get our keys, before finding our room. The place was sooo empty, cause we were the only ones staying there for a camp. It was rather errie too. ahahah. The room was HUGE, can sleep about 15 over ppl? There were only.. Tim, Eliza, Constance, Derrick, InnZheng, Reuben, JunMing, Aunt Sally and I. hhaha. The guy's side of the room had only 2 working fans, while the girls had 3. hahaha.
We had our Ice Breaker first. The first game was an 'introduction game'. Skittles was passed around, each person get to take as many as they want. I took like, 3 purples and 3 yellows. while most of them took all 5 colours. For each colour, we had to answer a different question. for eg, Yellow was -name one cheerful moment. while Green was one envious moment. hahha. Orange was naming smth abt urself everyone donno abt. hahaha. We didn't know Derrick was afraid of heights and Iz afraid of tree bark. Wad a fear. hahaha.
The other game was a memorising game. Each person had to remember 5 or more no.s, and we had to open them in running no. haha. It's quite fun, acutally.
We were ahead of the schedule, so we took some time to find out where the toilets were. hahha. Soon, it was lunchtime. hahaha. We had chicken rice. It was not bad. Then, it was our first session wif the speaker, Mr Edmund Chan. He taught us about our purpose driven life. And showed us examples of people in the Bible who had been faithful to God. It was about the difference between Worldly possessions and the Will of God.
Aft the session, we had half an hour to discuss about the sermon. Oh yea, one thing special about Pastor Edmund, his hair had a shriek of white infront, Something like Rogue in Xmen. By the time we finished, Sophia had finished school and joined us. After dinner, Angeline and Sin Ying came too.
Soon, It was time for Gallery walk. We didn't know anything about it, but my sister said it was nothing to look forward to. Well, it turned out to be planning for the year. Each window along the coridoor was pasted a mahjong paper, written a ministry. For example, Dance Ministry or Welfare Ministry. We had to write about WWW (What went wrong), WWR (What went right) and WWN (What we need). Some comments were rather encouraging.
Oh yea, before that, we did cell material evaluation as well. We haven't finish discussing, cause we were carried away by the matter of the 5 youths joining us next yr. Angeline den left, cause she had school tomorrow. The rest of us bathed in the boy's shower, cause the girl's shower was further away. Soon, those who were tired went to bed, while the few of us were mugging. ok, i was justing doing some math. haha.
Many of us couldn't sleep well that night, cause the floor was bloody cold and hard. ahahha.
Day2: We woke up late, and our morning quiet time together was shortened, and Tim was not pleased. Also, we rushed for our session no. 2, Life about Daniel. The last line spoke to me most. Daniel and his friends were sent to a foreign country to work for a King who wasn't a christian, yet they held on to their faith. When they were told to worship the idols, they refused, and were thrown into fire. Yet, they came out unharmed, cause God protected them against the fire.
Just because they worked for the king, they still held on to their faith, cause they were transformed for transformation.
We had a trashing out session among us, many tissues were passed around. but, we grew closer nevertheless. We each shared about our burdens, how we fail as a Christian.
After lunch, which was Tanjong Pagar Nasi Lemak, yum! The other youths came over, and i was incharge of games. First, we played a rather lame game. From a Chick, u have to sissorspaperstone, must win lah, with another Chick to become a Chicken. From a Chicken, sissorspaperstone wif a Chicken to become KFC. loser will become a chick again. From KFC, sissorspaperstone wif a KFC to become Ultraman. loser will become a Chicken. From Ultraman, sissorspaperstone wif a Ultraman to become Superman. loser will become KFC again. From Superman, sissorspaperstone wif a Superman to go to 'heaven'. hahaha. I became superman, and fell right back to be a chick. So sad lah! hahaha. Next game was murderer, followed by Charades.
yep. soon it was time for dinner... CURRY CHICKEN!!. muahahaha. it was cooked wif milk instead of coconut milk, cooked by auntie sharon. Still very nice lah. haha. After which was our last session, self centredness VS servanthood.
The rest of the youth plus part of the committee left. Which only left us wif Tim, Iz, Reuben, Sophia, Eliza, Cons and I. Instead of studying the last night, we havoc-ed playing murderer until 2 am. we played the wink one at first, but we decided to play the squzeeing hand one. very fun, but we had a lecture after that. We got Tim, Sophia and Eliza into trouble. Sigh, it was a lesson learn.
The next day, our session wif Pastor Choi was cancelled, so we had a prayer time. In which we listed everyone's prayer requests. And evaluated the retreat. After the Retreat, we went to Jaskson kopitiam to have kway chap. Dad came to pick us up, sophia came along wif us to our hse. Iz wanted to leave our hse for his hse, but the 4 of us slept infront of the tv for abt 3 hrs plus. ahah. Iz left at ard 5, while the rest woke up at 6.30, just in time for prayer meeting.
The next day, Iz, Jm, Sophia and I went to watch Just my Luck. Good show, but highly impossible. We went to walk walk around ps, and went to peinsular plaza after that. Jm got his guitar strings. Sophia and I went into Bata. Sophia totally fell in love wif a pair of heels which cost 119. hahha. but it was really nice lah. i saw a purple one, and i tried twice which was wrong size, got fed up and left. Iz saw a pair of adidas shoes he liked, but 3 of us disagreed. hahah. so he didn't buy it. Aft that, Iz, Sophia and i walked to Clark Quay. 2 of them took train while i took bus home. sigh. Looking at Clark Quay reminds me of my old workplace, and most importantly, my collegues. Miss them. All the fun.. People like Samuel, Benjamin, Wb, Nick, Lucas, Jaslin. It was only 1 mth of collegues we have been, but we bonded alot, although we hated the job. hahah.
